I don’t know about you, but I look forward to Tuesdays. What’s not to love about getting a brand new design each week for free?! This week I’m combining three of my favorite things: fabric, my CAMEO, and the free design of the week to make this fabric banner. If you’ve ever wondered how to cut fabric with your Portrait, CAMEO, or Curio you’ll want to follow along.
What you’ll need:
- fabric banner
- fabric
- fabric blade
- clean cut fusible fabric stabilizer
- scissors
Step One
Cut a piece of stabilizer that’s larger than the design and a piece of fabric that’s larger than the stabilizer. The stabilizer has a bumpy side and a smooth paper like side. Iron the pieces together with the wrong side of the fabric facing the bumpy side of the stabilizer.
Step Two
Let it cool and then trim around the fabric so it’s the same size as the piece of stabilizer. Peel the paper like liner from the stabilizer off the fabric.
Step Three
Place the fabric on your cutting mat with the right side facing up. Avoid placing it under the rollers so it doesn’t bunch up while cutting. I highly recommend the 12 in. x 24 in. cutting mat if you plan to cut fabric with your CAMEO. I love having so much cutting space!
Step Four
Cut out the design. Don’t forget to use your fabric blade to get a clean cut.
Step Five
Arrange the design on the fabric banner and iron it down. I found it easier to iron the main pieces first and then add the small pieces that go inside the letters.
I couldn’t agree more, a clean house truly is a happy house. The banner serves as a nice reminder to keep it clean, and it’s such a fun way to display a piece of fabric I adore.
